Blue Heron Design/Build

Blue Heron

685 Dragon Peak Court

Henderson, Nevada 89012

Celebrating 15 years as a luxury design/build firm in Southern Nevada

It is always fun to open the front door to guests who stop short at the view straight through the gallery, across the pool, and to the outdoor living room. The continuation of the travertine flooring from inside to out gives a seamless look that we like. We have often been told that the house seems like a resort.  Dick and Karen Sikorski

What do prospective homeowners look for when considering a custom-built dream home? Design? Aesthetics? Location? Luxury? Livability?

Tyler Jones, a fourth-generation Las Vegan and founder and principle of Blue Heron Build/Design, thinks you can and should have them all, and pledges that you will with Blue Heron. Starting as a laborer on the job site as a young boy, Tyler learned the building trade from his father, also a custom homebuilder. He doesn’t remember not being involved in home building. “Since I was born,” he quips. He graduated from college in Colorado and after working for architects in Denver, he returned to Las Vegas to start his own business.

When he launched Blue Heron and chose an emphasis on modern design, people told Jones the style wouldn’t work in Las Vegas. That only made him more determined to pursue his dream. To him, you can’ttranslates to, I will! Pushing boundaries is part of Blue Heron’s core mission, an ethic embraced by each team member. In fact, Jones pioneered a modern architectural style that became known as Vegas Modern™. People seek Blue Heron homes, both as custom builds and on the resale market, wanting the design and quality offered.

The Blue Heron team includes several notable designers and architects. The firm is known for its custom homes and boutique communities, and continues to innovate and build, always having a new venture in the idea, design or building stage, always blending their philosophy of beauty with function.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Blue Heron. Led by Las Vegas native Jones  knows the area, its moods. With multiple generations calling Las Vegas home, the business is solidly rooted. Over its history, the company boasts 13 Blue Heron Custom Neighborhoods, and has built approximately 200 custom homes, with about another 100 in inventory in the most coveted master-planned communites, throughout the Las Vegas valley.

A home represents one of a person’s most significant investments. When people choose to custom build, they want the result to reflect what they envision, although they might have trouble expressing that vision. Jones understands that our homes are about more than design and material components, that the design process must also focus on the homeowner’s lifestyle and capture the individual’s personality and his or her emotional investment in their living space. The home should be a place of beauty where people can both relax and be energized. Jones expresses personal pride in his company’s onboarding process with each client, accomplished by an interior design director and vision manager. After an extensive interview, the client gets a pre-kickoff presentation to make sure the team has captured the intangible and practical goals, the look and feel of the home that the client pictures. The project team is then hand-selected for each client.

A unique team working with unique individuals equals a unique home. “It’s an intense process to make sure we have the right talent and personality that tailors the project to the client, to understand what the home will feel like emotionally. It is a cohesive vision from start to finish.” Clients should feel confident that the entire team involved in the design and build of their home is working together, capturing the same vision.

When you decide to design and build with Blue Heron, you will get, “Personalized architecture, interior design, landscape design, pool and water design and furniture design, because we think about all that collectively from the beginning.” Interior designers are part of the process from the start, further harmonizing interior and exterior design. The level of integrated design-and-build services that Blue Heron offers is unparalleled.

Blue Heron is recognized nationally and internationally and has won numerous design awards. They have led in implementing energy efficient technology and ultimate green building methods, and have the honor of achieving the Platinum LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and the Emerald certification by the National Green Building Standard.

Blue Heron homes, lots and entire communities, already built or planned, include Marquis at Seven Hills, The Bluffs in Southern Highlands, Vantage at Lake Las Vegas, Midtown Modern near downtown and the Arts district, Obsidian in Henderson, and Equinox in MacDonald Highlands. Some of these communities have only a few lots remaining. Dragon Rock is another MacDonald Highlands’ community on the horizon. Some older communities have sold out. Each Blue Heron home is crafted for the individual, yet suited to reflect the environment, making each community one-of-a-kind.

Some of the new projects include Vantage, 37 homes overlooking Lake Las Vegas with lake and mountain views. Eleven homes have been sold, even before breaking ground. Vantage homes will introduce three new floorplans, including a single story, bringing  Vegas Modern™ to Lake Las Vegas.

Obsidian in Henderson, consists of 34 custom lots on approximately  60 elevated acres, surrounded by three master-planned, custom-lot communities—Ascaya, Roma Hills and MacDonald Highlands. The homes will be pre-designed, very high-end custom homes, offering amazing city views. Part of the community’s uniqueness is its designed entry and street layout.

Blue Heron’s newest show home, Vegas Modern 001, is well under construction and scheduled for a spring 2020 completion date. This 14,000-square foot home will serve as the company’s flagship for its unparalleled architecture, views, design and innovation. Located in MacDonald Highlands, it will be the first in the Vegas Modern™ series, and will serve as the physical embodiment of the style and the pinnacle of Las Vegas neighborhoods. Equinox, the adjacent neighborhood, consists of seven lots.

The level of excellence that Blue Heron offers is possible because of expert team members, and because of other core values—honesty, integrity and transparency. Tyler Jones also learned that aspect of the business by observing his father. Father and son are rightfully proud of each other.
